Galaxy Quest (1999)

Closer to 4 than 2.
The Thermians seem like they're a pretty darn sweet people!
Love that intro sequence to the new show at the end.

Julien Donkey-Boy (1999)

♥♥♥♥

Finding it kinda hard to rate.

Wild soundtrack - in a good way!
Unfortunate that their tyrant of a father is still alive.

A Scanner Darkly (2006)

♥♥♥

Mediocre.

Burn After Reading (2008)

♥♥♥♥

Pretty fun!

That last scene is probably my favourite scene, it's awesome!:

Fargo (1996)

Watched

Pretty sure I've seen this.

Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023)

♥♥

-1 for the awful writing where people are shortsighted, egotistical idiots cooperating to ridiculous degrees, willing to die and commit murder. Honestly it's silly.

Beautiful location towards the end!

TV series was pretty good, though, which is why I gave this a chance.

Addams Family Values (1993)

Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987)

♥♥♥

Deserves a 3½, I think.

Dheepan (2015)

♥♥♥♥

Great film! Nice soundtrack!

Primal Fear (1996)

♥♥♥♥

Nice soundtrack! Feels noir-like!
Good acting by Norton!

Curiously both Maura Tierney and Laura Linney have been Jim Carrey's wives in different movies.

I don't know if there's supposed to be a pessimistic morale that it's naive to believe in the good of people, that we shouldn't believe even in such circumstances. If what it wants to add is nuance and doubt I can understand that. To be both optimism and pessimism can equally go too far in that regard. Don't assume innocence, but also don't assume guilt. At least outside the context of violent crime cases, I *think* a positive assumption is significantly more in line with reality.

The Notebook (2004)

♥♥♥

pretty torn between 3 and 4. It was a quite nice watch, but also some things were just off, one being the acting from most of them.

story is not original but it's kinda well told. It's engaging. good chemistry.
decent music, fine cinematography

super creepy way to introduce himself!!
...and it's sad to see him wanting to be whatever she wants
...and bad friends that let noah get out on the date with her without her knowing

i like that he later stops when she's so uncertain and overwhelmed, though

plot-wise I don't see why she didn't write him once, or come visit?!

noah's supportive of the marriage and okay with being friends or at least trying <3

don't think the older noah seems much like the younger in terms of mannerisms/behaviour.

dementia is such a scary disease! :o

Babylon 5: In the Beginning (1998)

Babylon 5: The Gathering (1993)

♥♥♥

Pilot: 4 (4 as a TV series episode, as my expectations for those are lower - 3 if it was a movie).
Part of the reason is probably also that I had very low expectations based off the reviews.
That commander is quite the creep, and worse than Riker!
Good riddance to commander sinclair!

My favourite character in the pilot was Lieutenant Commander Laurel Takashima - and then she's replaced in the main
series. :/

I Lost My Body (2019)

♥♥♥♥

Quite unique in some ways, effectively gave me a sense of isolation and alienation from the rest of the world. And a sad story too. Pretty creepy approach with that woman though.
