Conan the Barbarian (1982)
♥♥♥♥
Awesome movie, maintaining tension and never getting boring. Sandahl Bergman and her character were great, and so was Arnold, whose role seems to be one of the best for him I've seen. The soundtrack is noteworthy as well. Probably my new favourite Schwarzenegger movie aside from Total Recall and Terminator (1). Sadly, there were several scenes with seemingly non-fake not-so-nice-treatment of non-human animals though, and that definitely deterred me. Though admittedly it helped create the barbaric/primitive atmosphere and simple thought patterns, it naturally doesn't justify any mistreatment in any form, as nothing naturally does.

Superman (1978)

Not as good as I remembered, though still a good, albeit fairly forgettable, movie presenting a swell played Lex Luthor, but a sub par John Williams score, compared to Star Wars or Indiana Jones. Theme is great though, but besides that. I guess maybe Superman is either too one-dimensional or just played that way. (which I wouldn't generally say is the case in the hero/villain debate, or at least that would simply be a general casting (or creativity) error.)

I missed some information during the watching and consequently was a bit confused as all the action unfolded, so I would like to see it again sometime with subtitles, or something. But the score was great, the general atmosphere snazzy and Jacqueline was in no way detrimental to the movie either. (wrauv) Oh yes, and the car chase scene is truly memorable. Seemed like the perfect midnight movie.

I liked it, but nothing spectacular to me per se. But the imagery is beautiful, the story is fair and the soundtrack is good. Also, I found myself somewhat attracted to Brian Slade. Interesting - I guess the point of the movement got somewhat through to me.

Stunning visuals, atmospheric sounds, a touching story and humour - I honestly don't understand all the negative criticism I hear about this movie. I LOVED it! My favourite Burton since Nightmare Before Christmas.

Pretty atmospheric and occasionally good lines, though it just doesn't seem to really draw you in, perhaps due to the chaotic story or the characters...?
