substantially better than Split IMO - it's been too long since I've seen Unbreakable so I can't say how it fares against that. Kinda surprised it's so disliked, not that it was perfect. Still closer to 3 than 5. too much time spent on kevin's antics!...also it makes little sense so many personalities try to escape when they know the damage "the horde" can do. unless of course the supposedly good guys are major scumbags as well, whose willingness to overlook damage to others means they should be behind bars if no treatment is found. that psychologist is quite the fuckface, and what a fucking creepy request to ask Casey to be around the horde more after that experience!! ...why was Patricia the hospital caretaker, seems mildly sexist to me.

Plot seems a bit all over the place, both with a grander story of sorts and a character portrait. It's quite interesting as well, and while very extreme compared to what I'm used to, I can relate to the "keeping up appearances" at a certain level, fx. in people not being honest when asked how they're doing, how they feel about someone, brushing off if something hurt, preferring small talk while wanting not to because it seems more "proper". And taken to this extreme, it becomes apparent how silly and counter productive it is generally speaking, even in smaller amounts. Closer to 4 than 2.

Very beautiful visually, both in what's depicted and the cinematography, and a nice soundtrack. Lots of philosophy, pieces of wisdom, and sadly a world where the value of human life was very low globally and many more were worse off than the standard of living today it would seem. Don't know how much the fictional tale is based in reality however. I like the idea shared that one should be wary that one's life's suddenly can suddenly be upheaved for the much worse out of nowhere, both in valuing what you have now and in having sympathy and support for others who may currently be in a destitute situation.

A story relevant to environmentalism and indigenous people ...and massive cojones - literally! Really beautiful and imaginative visually, and a good soundtrack! Very very sad in many ways too(!!!), despite on the outside seeming like a children's/family movie. A movie that in its character building goes well in line with "fuck the police", with their violent racist tendencies here, and Popeye is a creep towards women as well, disturbingly referring to his lover as "kid". Wild "car chase"! Somehow reminds me of the one in Bullitt.

Closer to 3 than 5. Nice, creepy performance by Christian Bale, much more interesting than in his Batman movies. Misogyny, general objectification, psychopathy, misanthropy, superficiality, norm following, obsessive hygiene and self obsession. Just like we see in real life, it's nice to see a clear association between violent tendencies towards other animals (meat) and towards human animals depicted. "die yuppie scum" - surprised to see that there!
