Mississippi Burning (1988)

♥♥♥♥

A good film, but also an infuriating watch much of the time, with all the wrong people harmed and killed. Fucking tragedy!

Put your witnesses and informants under protection, wtf!

Also: Ned Ryerson from Groundhog Day, and Burrell from The Wire!

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

♥♥♥♥

Probably one of the best MCU movies I've seen so far, maybe even on par with Guardians of the Galaxy 1+2! Or at least close.

Lucky Luke: La Ballade des Dalton (1978)

English title: La ballade des Dalton

♥♥♥♥

A movie I watched when I was a kid. An awful lot of racist stereotypes, sadly.
I like that the non human animals win over the animal abusing humans though, in the rodeo and related competitions, and that we can understand their communication in general. Sadly the horse didn't beat Lucky Luke.

The Stranger (1946)

♥♥♥

Closer to 4 than 2.

All movies or TV series' by Orson Welles

Ready Player One (2018)

♥♥♥♥

Nice watch, a ton of references obviously of which I caught several but probably missed as many.

He should've spent part of the first earnings already to help his aunt out or at least get her new gloves if she wanted to. Incidentally he also seemed quite unaffected about her later??

All movies or TV series' by Steven Spielberg

Offret (1986)

English title: The Sacrifice

♥♥♥♥

Somewhat unsure what actually transpired in parts of the story.
Quite beautiful audiovisually!
Of the ones I rated 4, I think Zerkalo and especially Stalker were better.

All movies or TV series' by Andrei Tarkovsky

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

♥♥♥

Reminds me a bit of Blow and Goodfellas.
I'm not sure whether it's trying to glorify this unethical way of life or not, where women are mostly commodities, there's no ethics - at least to the general public and being rich and irresponsible is "cool".

It's mostly a fairly entertaining watch though.

Conspiracy Theory (1997)

All movies or TV series' by Richard Donner

Her (2013)

♥♥♥♥♥

Beautiful, thought-provoking film with a very fitting soundtrack. Very well made and captivating.

Part of their conflict remind me of the one encountered by Doctor Manhattan and Silk Spectre in Watchmen.
The "Lying on the moon" melody somehow reminds me of...La La Land? "Here's to the Fools Who Dream", maybe?

All movies or TV series' by Spike Jonze

Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014)

♥♥♥

Would like to rewatch as I suspect my mood might've negatively affected the rating.

Ida (2013)

♥♥♥

That aunt is cool!

Finding Neverland (2004)

♥♥♥♥

Touching.

All movies or TV series' by Marc Forster

Kış Uykusu (2014)

English title: Winter Sleep

♥♥♥♥

Closer to 5 than 3. Quite an intense philosophical, interesting watch. Well written!
Nihal would be better off leaving Aydin in my opinion. It's creepy to think about how this relationship happened in the first place. Arranged marriage?

All movies or TV series' by Nuri Bilge Ceylan

The Living Daylights (1987)

♥♥♥

If only they knew that cows milk is not for humans that never would've happened and
further problems could've been avoided, if he didn't underestimate women.

Bond ratings - I think:
Roger Moore > Pierce Brosnan > Sean Connery > Daniel Craig >Timothy Dalton

Roma (2018)

♥♥♥♥

Touching, well-made film, and a good portrayal of class differences (they are meaningless and sad).

All movies or TV series' by Alfonso Cuarón

Casino Royale (2006)

♥♥♥♥

Much better than Skyfall in my opinion. More twists, less overly powerful Bond who's also being outsmarted at times, which makes it more interesting. Well played by Le Chiffre.

Friday (1995)

♥♥♥

Pretty good if it wasn't for the sexism and sizeism. :/ The guys really don't treat women or even their girlfriends very well.

The movie reminds me of Clerks. Friday was released one year after but was probably already in production when Clerks was out.
Craig's father is quite a funny character.

All movies or TV series' by F. Gary Gray

I Kill Giants (2017)

♥♥♥♥

At first I quite disliked the younger siblings for being irresponsible and ungrateful, leaving Karen with everything, but far in I finally could see why this was the state of affairs.
Karen handled it best, while for the others even their basic composure was challenging to maintain with everything going on, and they each had their somewhat similar means of escapism which they vigorously and desperately clung to.
