I quite like it, more so than the previous two at least. Might be on par or better than 1! I feel like there's more focus on character development, and also the setting. A quite dystopian side of the world is shown, including organisations controlling society behind the scenes, manipulating media and other people to follow, and issues resulting from separation of fields and knowledge, so large groups of people might be working on something destructive while not knowing it because they're only allowed to see a small part of the picture. A bit drawn out that chase scene, not unlike the rest of the series.

Closer to 4 than 2. Would like to watch any sequels! Watched a fair bit of the animé. Besides that weird milk propaganda track - which is heard thrice(!) - the soundtrack is pretty decent. Maybe some milk company is trying to increase sales on the japanese market and donated to the film's production? That captain and Renji have fucked up morals in general. Even towards his sister?! If they represent Soul Society it surely shouldn't be joined but rather left.

Closer to 2 than 4. Seems like a B-movie, and not a particularly good one. Those NS-5 transport ships look inspired from the ones in fx. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.

Quite similar to 2, having too much action and too little story development. A bit better though. Rankings of the Bourne films so far is probably I, III, II

Pretty decent, and I'm glad to see it's not one-sided, which reality rarely is. A bit weird with the songs, however.

Kinda boring, and I don't think the mixture of action and comedy really worked. Both just became half-hearted.

Very beautiful film! Very well written dialogue, great acting(!) and photography, and good music. I like that they take time for each scene/setting and mood, as often seen in older movies rather than newer ones.

As a fan of the anime films and series (especially the first film and first series) - with little knowledge of the original manga however - I wanted to watch this, despite the whitewashing which I too find worthy of negative criticism. They should've stayed better in the setting and used more or exclusively japanese actors. Besides that I found it fairly entertaining coming in with low expectations. I especially enjoy the time it dedicated to establishing the setting, one possible future of our society. I wish they'd used some of the original GitS music in the movie itself, not just in the end credits. I like its multisided nature, where it isn't clearcut good vs. evil. Beautiful audiovisuals, and pretty nice action scenes!

Actually much better than I expected, though still closer to 3 than 5. Not even sure if it wouldn't at least be on par with the original if they'd come out at the same time, and one wouldn't be favoured by nostalgia while another receives extra criticism for changing the gender of the cast. ...and so many nice, small roles, including the original cast except Harold Ramis, R.I.P. Also especially nice to see Omar Little from the Wire (Michael K. Williams)!! That machine looks daaaaalekkk inspired <3

Close to 5 if not actually deserving a 5! Great soundtrack - again! Probably the GotG movies are my favourite MCU movies so far - possibly even my favourite Marvel movies in general! A few of the X-Men movies would be the contenders.

Not as magical as the first, at least not on this watch. Would like to rewatch! Feels kinda unique, and its audiovisually good. I also watched the 3 prequel minis which where mostly kinda confusing and seemingly unnecessary. The animé was probably the best of those.

Enemy at the Gates (2001)
♥♥♥
Closer to 2 than 4. Kind of hollywood-like in many ways, with individual heroism and heartfelt scenes happening practically in the middle of a firefight and so on. Did like its brutal portrayal of war, however, which showed that it's especially the lower ranking soldiers that suffer, both from their own supposed side and the enemy's.

The Square (2017)
♥♥♥
Quite interesting, scary scene with that man pretending to be an aggressive (primitive human) animal. If that had been real I'd approve of the final reaction of the crowd and would not accept his treatment of visitors, especially her, unless those specific victims he singles out are paid actors too. Anyway the film itself seems quite loose in terms of narrative, showing several different scenes with little relevance to each other and many parts of the story never really resolved.

Rather sexist, sadly, objectifying both women in the crowd and in general through his show - and abusing his platform at times. :/ Also probably the least interesting of his shows so far, besides the Popov Vodka one perhaps.

Addressing lookism, nice! Also having children being among the most significant impacts on the climate is addressed again. In the "union sex" bit it seems he forgets that shame (inherited fx. from patriarchal religions) is probably the cause of some of women being withheld sexually, ie. slutshaming.
