Blade Runner (1982)

♥♥♥♥♥

This movie didn't enthrall me the first time around, where I actually found it fairly "lame".
In a recent reviewing however, I found myself immersed in its alienation, constant mystery and eerie atmosphere, not least on part of the stunning photography, and soundtrack. The final scenes are worth emphasis.

The sexual assault scene is really horrible though. With the romantic music accompanying it it even seems to send the message that this is not problematic or even fine. What a disturbing message to send to the viewers!!

Rambo III (1988)

♥♥♥♥

It's awesome. Not on par with the first in the series but clearly kicking the ass of the second. Music, photography, action sequences, one-liners: all great, and Rambo is back doing what he should: guerilla combat!

Die Hard 2 (1990)

"Sergent, get this bureaucrat out of the face of Mister McClane, now." Somewhat confusing and not as interesting characters , nor as good of a soundtrack, nor as awesome action scenes as the first one. I liked the chief of military, though, and the ending was pretty neat.

Live Free or Die Hard (2007)

The whole thing is rather boring and stupid. Bruce Willis, increasingly patriotic, surrounded by a bunch of superficial, no-good characters (or actors, or directing) lower quality humor compared to the previous entries, visual effects-based action and some skin deep message of loving the status quo and fearing people who understand something obscure because of a hobby and not a job. People need central control, or else we have anarchy: We need the state: We need America.

Certainly better than I expected from the name. A lot of shock effects, not so focused around the story. Visually pretty good.

Shutter Island (2010)

♥♥♥♥

Wicked soundtrack, filming and atmosphere. I'm really surprised that people seem to like this less than Scorsese's last film, "The Departed", when this film according to my evaluation is clearly superior.

Zombieland (2009)

♥♥♥

Successfully entertaining with a surprisingly good soundtrack. I wasn't bored at any time but on the other hand it didn't positively surprise me out of the ordinary, compared to other action or zombie flicks.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)

Freaky shit! My perspective is probably somewhat unique as it comes from a vegan, so in a way I'm really not too shocked or surprised. So yeah, go veg. I'd totally recommend it to horror fans: good, scary soundtrack, nice visuals and freaky characters and scenes. Regardless my own limited fascination for horror films (i guess), the rating is still not comparatively high. I have to learn to appreciate feeling bad, I guess? Then maybe not?

Interesting portrayal of the philosophies and environment, but for some reason I wasn't sucked into it, which may be my own bias needing a cheesy soundtrack or something, or maybe because they were all such scumbags I just instinctively rejected their reality.

I loved it! - and was really impressed. It's complete chaos transferred to film, and
I found the it really immersive and personally literally felt bad, as if being there myself, around the ending of it, hoping it would soon be over. Recommended!

Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs (2008)

An unstoppable, consecutive series of independent jokes of which a large percentage of them are references to characters and incidents from the series. While some of the ideas were interesting, I was still quite bored all the way through, perhaps because the main storyline was boring as fuck and wasn't that cohesive. Or something like that.
